Supper Club Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

A nicely textured wine with a perfumed nose. The fruit flavours are tropical and ripe with green capsicum notes and the acidity is vibrant and racy. Clean, very crisp and refreshing.

Great feedback from Raymond Chan

Monday, September 16, 2013

We were delighted to receive great feedback from Raymond Chan which accompanied his recent reviews...

'These new wines show a step up for Supper Club. The Sauv Blanc 2013 is lovely with good sweet passionfruity flavours. A little more concentration and it’s up there with some big names. I found the Pinot Noir 2012 particularly interesting on bouquet especially. A little lighter and drier on palate after the nose, making it ‘pretty’. They are really good value wines, and deliver plenty for the price.'

Silver for our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

Monday, September 16, 2013

Our 2013 earned a Silver Medal at the 2013 New Zealand International Wine show.

The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is a true expression Marlborough, characterised by intense tropical and passionfruit aromatics in combination with more delicate citrus and floral notes. These characters translate generously onto the palate, which is bursting with tropical fruit, ripe citrus and fine mineral acidity. The excellent growing conditions resulted in a wine of both great intensity and balance, a true hallmark of this remarkable vintage. This wine is a perfect match for any fresh seafood, but pairs particularly well with freshly shucked oysters or yellowtail kingfish sashimi. Its aromatic intensity also lends to pairings with many aromatic Asian dishes, or quite simply enjoyed by itself as an aperitif..

Supper Club Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

Hand-picked fruit indigenous yeast fermented with 25% whole bunches to 13.5% alc., the wine spending 25 days on skins and aged 10 months in one-third new French oak barriques.  Light, even ruby-red colour with some depth and slight purple hues of youth.  The nose is softly voluminous with dark cherry fruit aromas along with minerals, savoury dried herbs, and nuances of oak toast and reductive complexities that grow in interest and detail.  Medium-bodied, tight and taut flavours of dark red cherries, minerals and earth unfold to show some dried herb whole bunch elements.  The fruit expression is shy, allowing dry, grainy tannins and the acidity to show over the fruit sweetness, and the textures carry the palate to a crisp, dry finish.  This is a pretty wine, with good complex aromatics and a shy, textured palate.  Match with antipasto and poultry over the next 3-4 years. 16.5+/20. 3/5 stars.

Supper Club Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Very bright, pale straw colour with slight green hues, near colourless on rim.  The bouquet is full and softly presented with open and accessible pungent, passionfruit aromas, along with notes of tropical fruits and fresh herbs.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, gently mouthfilling flavours of passionfruit are nuanced with gooseberry, lime and herbal notes.  This shows a rounded mouthfeel with subtle richness, the palate soft and slippery with moderate depth and refreshing acidity.  A delicate textured line carries the flavours to a mouthwatering, dry finish.  This is a soft-textured, gently mouthfilling, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with freshness.  Serve with tapas, seafood and poultry over the next 2 years.  Marlborough fruit cool-fermented in stainless-steel to 13.0% alc. 17.0+/20. 4/5 Stars.

Supper Club Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012

This good value for Central Otago Pinot. It exhibits dark berry aromas with notes of cigar and forest floor on the nose. In the palate the fruit leads the way with plentiful blackberry and redcurrant flavours underpinned by vibrant tannins and integrated oak. Good now but should improve further in time. 4/5 Stars.

2013 Supper Club Sauvignon Blanc

This is a delightful sauvignon with wide appeal. It's youthful and fragrant, displaying feijoa, passionfruit, peach and dill notes on the nose. The palate is succulent and nicely weighted with excellent intensity and a persistent finish. Lovely harmony. At its best: now to 2016. 13%. Screw cap. Aug 2013. 88/100 points. 4/5 Stars.
