Marlborough Vintage Report 2015

Cool summer temperatures in early December affected Sauvignon blanc flowering, resulting in reduced fruit set for this variety, however the other key varieties were largely unaffected. The reduced crop levels, coupled with warm dry summer conditions, resulted in very even ripening and exceptional flavour concentration. Harvesting began in the last week of March, with the hot dry autumn weather ensuring all grapes were harvested by the second week of April. The dry settled autumn weather allowed the harvest could progress without interruption, producing some of the most concentrated and exciting wines of recent vintages.

This 2015 Supper Club Sauvignon Blanc is vibrant and fruit driven with intense gooseberry aromas supported by hints of blackcurrant. On the palate citrus and lime flavours are married with complex stone fruit qualities. These classical Marlborough flavours are concentrated and intense, matched with fine acidity making a wine with great balance and length.

Marlborough Vintage Report 2014

A cooler than normal summer was followed by a warm dry autumn, helping produce fruit of excellent concentration and elegance. With a slow start to harvest at the end of March, the dry autumn weather ensured another condensed vintage, with all grapes harvested by the second week of April. Once again the ability to harvest without interruption ensured all fruit was picked prior to an extended period of heavy rain towards the end of April. The white wines are characterised by concentrated tropical and citrus aromatics and bright vibrant acidity, while the red wines display rich complex fruit concentration and refined texture.

Winemakers Notes

Marlborough is renowned for its high sunshine hours and cool night time temperatures that help lock in the zesty flavours, giving crisp and fruity structure to the wines. The 2014 vintage reflects this perfectly. Striking notes of nettles, pink grape-fruit and fresh currants leap from the glass. The crisply defined palate is underlined with minerality, lingering with guava and ripe pear. This wine is especially perfectly matched with freshly shucked oysters, lightly pan-fried fish, a green leaf goats cheese salad or simply enjoy as an aperitif.

Silver for our 2013 Sauvignon Blanc

Our 2013 earned a Silver Medal at the 2013 New Zealand International Wine show.

The 2013 Sauvignon Blanc is a true expression Marlborough, characterised by intense tropical and passionfruit aromatics in combination with more delicate citrus and floral notes. These characters translate generously onto the palate, which is bursting with tropical fruit, ripe citrus and fine mineral acidity. The excellent growing conditions resulted in a wine of both great intensity and balance, a true hallmark of this remarkable vintage. This wine is a perfect match for any fresh seafood, but pairs particularly well with freshly shucked oysters or yellowtail kingfish sashimi. Its aromatic intensity also lends to pairings with many aromatic Asian dishes, or quite simply enjoyed by itself as an aperitif..
